Your Host for the Evening

Peter Rhoades-Brown
“Rosie”

Peter Rhoades-Brown is a much-loved figure in Oxford United’s history, admired for both his contribution on the pitch and his many years of service away from it. Known to generations of supporters as “Rosie,” he remains closely associated with one of the club’s proudest eras.

After beginning his career at Chelsea, he joined Oxford United in 1984 and quickly became a fan favourite. A quick, skilful winger with tremendous commitment, he played a key role as the club secured back-to-back promotions to reach the top flight of English football.

He was also part of the Oxford squad that won the 1986 Milk Cup, the club’s greatest major honour. Although injury denied him a place in the Wembley final, his contribution during that remarkable period helped define what many supporters still regard as a golden age for the club.

Forced to retire through injury in 1989, Peter did not step away from Oxford United. Instead, he dedicated himself to the club’s community and development work, helping strengthen ties with schools, charities, supporters, and the wider Oxfordshire community.

Over the years, he has become one of the club’s finest ambassadors, representing Oxford United with warmth, humility, and genuine affection for its people. Through youth engagement, supporter outreach, hospitality, and former-player relations, he has remained a familiar and respected presence for generations of fans.

As Club Ambassador and Engagement Officer, Peter continues to embody the spirit and values of Oxford United with dedication and warmth. Tonight, we are delighted to welcome Rosie as our host for the 30th Oxfordshire Business Awards Dinner.
